Kao Feather Nature Plus Shampoos Review

Over the years, a lot of mainstream shampoos just disappeared from the local market. Rave kept my hair in place (it was like it has spray net or something) but also gave me dandruff. Clairol Herbal Essences smelled so divine and tamed my hair. You can still find them in a few supermarkets, only in the imported section. Then there were Kao Feather Shampoos which I couldn't recall much of, except the name.

Apparently Kao Feather Shampoos are still around, only in other countries. Brother and sissy-in-law sent a couple along with other stuff in their last balikbayan box from Singapore. They live in Australia now.

Feather Nature Plus Shampoos and Conditioners, claim their labels, are with 100% natural ingredients, supplement hair and nourish scalp for healthy and beautiful hair from the inside.

feather nature plus soft and smooth shampoo

Kao Feather Nature Plus Mild and Gentle Shampoo has rice milk and wheat sprout.  It is suitable for daily use while maintaining hair and scalp moisture. Its mild and gentle formula is suitable even for children.

Checking the ingredients, there's rice bran extract, rice germ oil, nonfat dry milk, wheat bran extract and - surprise! - eucalyptus leaf extract. I didn't expect the eucalyptus because the shampoo does not impart a minty feeling or odor. The scent is of apple blossoms. Not at all milky. Guys should have no qualms with it as it's not a really girly smell. It's not strong and does not linger.

Because it claims to be extra mild for daily use, Feather Nature Plus Mild and Gentle Shampoo should be perfect for summer when everyone wants to take baths several times a day, everyday. There should be no worries of hair being stripped of moisture from constant shampooing to keep hair fresh, right? However, over the course of using this shampoo, I was stopped twice at the mall by sales assistants who tried to get me to buy their hair iron. I was with sister who was using a different shampoo. They targeted me. These were times when I didn't condition my hair or used treatments. Just the shampoo. Also, on its own, it was unable to keep my hair from smelling of sweat. Note that I have really thick hair.

feather nature plus soft and smooth shampoo

Kao Feather Nature Plus Soft and Smooth Shampoo has honey and royal jelly. It cleanses and nourishes normal to dry hair, leaving it soft and smooth. This is an extra soft and smooth formula, which moistures (sic) and enhances healthy condition for hair.

Eucalyptus leaf extract is again listed as an ingredient and again is hardly felt. The shampoo has a powdery floral scent, which I feel is more for gals but guys who are not picky may be okay with it as well. The scent is subtle but longer lasting than Feather Nature Plus Mild and Gentle Shampoo.

In fact, Feather Nature Plus Soft and Smooth Shampoo performs better than the Mild and Gentle Shampoo. I like how my hair looks after I use it. Not much fly-aways. It delivers on its promise of soft, smooth hair.

In terms of suds, both variants do not produce a huge amount of lather. Might be something to consider if foamy shampoos are your thing.

So as you can see, sometimes you don't have to give up on a brand just because a variant did you wrong.  You may just need to find the variant which works for you. But I can understand the apprehension of getting another variant of the same brand. After all, there are lots of other brands out there for you to try.
