Here's another product I got from a roving seller before lockdown.
I had been meaning to get my hands on a peeling gel/cream after trying out Sophie Martin Paris Tomato Natural Antioxidant Peeling. Since Nature Beauty Collagen and Glutathione Perfect Magic Peeling Cream works the same way (The seller applied some of the product on my arm and rubbed it in. Sure enough, clumps of debris began forming. Mind you, as I've explained extensively in the Sophie Martin Tomato Peeling post last January, peeling gels/cream that produce clumps are physical, like scrubs, not chemical exfoliants in spite of the torrent of extracts they spew at you. They're not magic. ), I got easily duped into buying a tube.
Unfortunately, this seller was able to sell several tubes of this product using shady selling tactics. She outright lied that one of my coworkers is her suki, someone who often buys stuff from her. I had no way of verifying this short of hunting down said coworker whose mobile number I don't have. At that time I was thinking that this particular coworker of mine is quite frugal so for her to purchase stuff from a seller could only mean that a) the seller is trustworthy and b) the stuff is quite good.
I later learned that my co-worker only met and bought from the seller on the same day I did. Hay. I am reminded of the tactics employed by those equally shady door to door sellers of lpg safety devices wherein they would also mention your neighbor having bought a device from them.
Checking online, I learned that the product sold to me was way overpriced, 3-4 times the amount some online sellers are selling it. Alarmingly, there's this FDA public health warning against Nature Beauty Collagen and Glutathione Perfect Magic Peeling Cream. The red flags do not stop there. There's the supposed proliferation of fakes. There are pics online of product tubes with different colored designs, some bearing a seal that proclaims they are "authentic". But are they really just because they have a stamp? Apart from Nature Beauty, there are two other Collagen and Glutathione Perfect Magic Peeling Creams in the market, one by Momomola, the other by Merry Sun. All three are super similar, from packaging to the actual product. At least Merry Sun has a slew of beauty products and is identified as a legit Philippine corporation. I can't find anything on Nature Beauty Corporation, the manufacturer of the cream I have. Finally, there's no detailed ingredient list on the packaging.
Wary of using Nature Beauty Collagen and Glutathione Perfect Magic Peeling Cream, I gave the tube to my most hated frenemy. Kidding. It's now kilometers from where I am. Sorry, Mother Earth for chucking this one to you.
