Payless Xtra Big Pancit Canton Original Flavor

The local supermarket where we get our month's worth groceries didn't have Lucky Me Pancit Canton in Original Flavor. So I went on twitter and searched for alternatives. A lot of people were raving about Payless Extra Big Pancit Canton in Original Flavor. A few even said that it tasted exactly like Lucky Me Pancit Canton.

Well, they are different. Payless Xtra Big Pancit Canton in Original Flavor does not even taste like the older version of Lucky Me Pancit Canton. Payless has this slight smoky taste which is reminiscent of the no longer in the market Pancit ni Mang Juan Pinoy BBQ Flavor. The grains in the oil seasoning are tell-tale signs. It also has a bit of underlying sour taste. The noodles are thinner, even than the older version of Lucky Me. The aroma is different as well.

Granted, I'm still slightly salty that Lucky Me changed the noodles and size of its Pancit Canton and the taste of its Original flavor.

What tastes like Lucky Me Pancit Canton Original Flavor, the older version? Well, I remember having Max's Pancit Canton and going, "Hmm, this tastes like Lucky Me Pancit Canton." That was years ago and I haven't had Max's Pancit Canton since.
